Pot splitting proposition

As many of you have realized, the random winner of the 25% portion of the pot is going to get a HUGE amount of money. When Trisha and I started this whole thing, we only anticipated maybe 20 participants. That would have made the 25% pot about $75. We ended up with almost 120 participants, making the 25% pot about $400. While that would be quite the reward for one person to win, we would like to split that 4 ways giving 4 participants the opportunity to win some cash.

We would like your feedback because we don't want to upset anyone by changing this at the last minute. Please respond with a YES or a NO on the poll to the side.

Remember - to be eligible for this drawing, you can't be one of the participants with perfect 70's, but you have to have an 8-week average of 60 or more points.

  1. I agree. I think it should be split 4 ways! I think this will reward more people. I can't see why anyone wouldn't want a better chance of winning!!!

  2. Heck yeah! Gives me a better chance of winning SOMETHING! :0)

  3. Definitely agree!! Everyone has worked so hard and it's only fair to split it 4 ways!

  4. Isn't it ironic that the "winners" of the challenge (although we are ALL winners for finishing!) will each only get about $50 while the runners-up will get $100 or $400 (depending on how the voting goes). I guess that's just the way the cookie crumbles - but I'll be honest, I've considered losing a point just so I can be in the running for the bigger cash prize. Although a guaranteed $50 is better than a chance at $100, maybe.

Why not split the 25% chunk 10 ways and give them $40 each? That way the perfect 70 scorers still get a tiny bit bigger reward and more participants will go away with some cash. Just an idea.

  5. The more the merrier...4 ways, ten ways, I say yes!

  7. I think it's a great idea to split the 25% four ways and even greater idea that you put it to a poll vote to be completely fair.

  8. I agree with the comment to split it more than 4 ways - spread the love! :)

  9. I can honestly say that my line of thinking was along the lines of Heather C.'s. Seems unfair to those with perfect points to get LESS than those with less than perfect points. But splitting the 25% pot 4 ways, definitely makes a dent in how much more they'll be getting, so I guess my vote would be yes. Mind you...this challenge has NEVER been about the money for me, so I don't really care how it all ends up in the end...just trying to be fair.
Also, just a clarification...to be eligible for the 25% pot, do you have to have an overall average of 60 points each week, or do you have to have at least 60 points each week to qualify? Definitely a big difference.

  10. I agree with heather C and Janette. I just don't see how it's fair that people who weren't committed to the challenge and didn't get perfect points will end up with more than double the money than those of us who had perfect points each week. I understand that the rules were set before, but it just doesn't seem fair.
For me although I've been glad to better myself and I've really enjoyed the challenge. I was hoping to use the money to buy some Christmas presents for my kids. So the money was a big motivator for me. Just my two cents.

  11. Oh so I guess I didn't read the fine print carefully enough. I always thought everyone you who had 60 or more points (INCLUDING those who didn't lose a single point) was eligible for the 25% prize. Especially the way the numbers turned out I think the winners should not be out of the random drawings. That's just the way I see it.

  12. I am fine with additionally splitting the pot. However, it would be nice if we could be a little less judgmental of people who do not have perfect scores. From what i read on facebook some people got sick, some were pregnant, some have babies or small children who woke up in the night and other mitigating circumstances. There are a million reasons why people didn't get perfect scores. It doesn't mean people did not try their personal best to participate in the challenge. The "perfect score" group has definitely thinned out over the past two weeks. Anyway, just my $.02! :)

  13. I would say that those who have perfect scores should still be in the running to win the extra money. They should be that much more rewarded.

  14. Jenny -- Sorry if you felt like anyone was judging those who didn't get perfect scores. I'm sure no one meant to sound that way. I agree that everyone who has stuck with this one way or another is a winner indeed!

Trisha and Karli -- Can we vote for a free point earning this week? :) I'd sure love it! ♥

  15. Jenny, I'm sorry if you took my post to be judgmental. I agree that this was about challenging ourselves, no matter what level that was at. And I think we all did that. My comments only were referring to the fact that it didn't make sense that those who got all their points wouldn't be included in the drawing for the other money. I'm sorry if I offended you.

  16. No worries. I personally wasn't offended. :) I just think it's interesting that people want to change some of the rules when we all knew what they were when we signed up. Karli and Trisha had no idea that they would end up with such a huge number of participants as a result of people e-mailing and linking the blog to their friends and that so many people would end up with perfect scores. If you want a chance to win a larger amount of money than drop a point. It's that simple. We have to make a choice between the money or the satisfaction of knowing that we set a goal and accomplished it! Again, I have no problem with splitting the 25% pot so more people can benefit from it- 4, 10, whatever. It is what it is!

  17. A big thanks to Karli and Trisha for all of their hard work and dedication. This turned out to be a WAY bigger project than they were anticipating and yet they've never complained and graciously given of their time and talents to help the rest of us. Thank you, thank you!
It would be a shame for anybody who made it the whole 8 weeks to leave this challenge feeling disappointed...perfect points or not. The real reward is a better you and better habits, which if you've given this challenge your all and made it this far, I know you've experienced. I know my body (and the little body growing inside of me) is thanking me for participating. I just wanted to extend my gratitude to the two lovely ladies who made it all possible in the first place!

  18. Wow!!! What a response to this! Most of what I am writing has already been written. But here is MY 2 cents:

As we have said before, Karli and I decided to put on this LITTLE challenge and got a GREAT RESPONSE! We are so excited how big it got, and hope you all join us for our next challenge.

That being said when we came up with the "rules" we didnt think the 25% pot would be as big as it has gotten. We also didnt think so many people would be perfect...WAY TO GO!!! Anyways, to be fair to the original rules the 25% pot will only be split between the people who are not perfect. The perfect scores have a GUARANTEE to their share of the 75% pot. The other contestants have a chance to win part of the 25% pot. If you really want a chance at the 25% pot then you would need to lose a point. But our hope in this challenge is to make good habits and improve ourselves...the money just adds a little spice. So lets try to not get too caught up on the money part of it. Not to sound cheesy, but we ALL won in this challenge, right? Everyone, whether you were perfect or not, made changes and did things each day that they may not have done if they hadnt signed up for this challenge.

I hope that makes sense, and answers all of your questions. We will let you know when we decide about splitting the pot :)

    FINISH STRONG!!

  20. I would like to add to the big THANKS to Karli & Trish for all they have done. This has been WONDERFUL, amazing, life-changing (for me, and for most of us). The money is a fun side-benefit but the real winnings come in numbers on the scale, or pants that fit better, or new attitudes or new habits (hopefully all of the above!)A big round of applause for everyone and for the creators of this great challenge!!

When do we start the next one?! I vote for January 10th! Give us a week to wind down from the holidays and then jump into good habits again.

p.s. I think that next time you should take $1 from each contestants entrance fee as a payment for all the hard work you girls (Karli & Trish) did. It won't pay for all your time, but it will be something. Just a thought. You deserve it!

  21. Heather I agree and would totally pay an extra buck for the gals! For my other two cents, please don't make it 12 weeks!! I'm barely hanging on with 8 weeks only because life has gotten extra busy lately.

  22. Jeannie, I agree. 8 weeks is good for me!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I agree that 8 weeks is perfect. Do you have a date yet for starting the next one? I vote for mid-January!

  24. hey ladies (LOL) I think you should have something for the one who lost the most weight in this process .... hhahaha jk.

Either way I think everyone who continued should have a huge congrats and all that jazz cause it was NOT an easy 8 weeks.
