We want to hear from you!

How are you all doing so far? Has the challenge gotten easier since week 1, or do you find it to be more "challenging". What do you struggle with the most? What do you most enjoy? Are you as committed as you were on day 1, or battling to stick with it? What keeps you motivated?

  1. It's day 18 and I am kind of in the groove of this whole challenge. I don't know if I can call it a habit, but I definitely have a routine, and that is helping to stay on track :0) Hallelujah for free day cause I definitely have cravings and it's good to know there is one day each week that I can indulge those if I need to. Drinking all the water has actually been pretty hard for me. I have never been a big water drinker, so going form hardly nothing to 8 glasses in a day is something I have to stay on top of. Somedays I struggle with finding a act of kindness/service, but it's been fun to think of things to do! I can't believe we are nearing the end of week 3! My mom and I started blogs just for this so we could keep track and check in on one another. That has been fun, and writing it all down helps. The whole experience has been great. While I am enjoying the knowledge that I am living a healthier balanced lifestyle and I have say the money is still very motivating! I want some of it! I could use some things around the house! :0) But, in the end, taking this journey with my mom is the best!

  2. Awhhhh Heather! Thank you! I'm enjoying doing this challenge with you too!
I don't know what it is about this paticular challenge but I've started this type of thing soooooo many times and stopped after a week or two because I haven't felt the success I wanted. BUT, Heather, Karli and Trish have helped me to realize that I'm not gong to drop 75 pounds in a few weeks! lol It took me 59 years to look like this so it's gonna take me several to get it off! ha ha! The thing I like the best is the good habits that I'm building! Our blogs have really helped too! I love keeping track on the blog! Very helpful!! I honetly have loved the reading aspect of it! I have read some excellent Ensign talks in the past 3 weeks and reading the scriptures daily is a blessing! I've struggled with that in the past and now that I MAKE THE TIME to do it, it's great!! Tht also helps me with the Acts of kindness. I'm in a church calling that requires a lot of service but going outside of that and trying to come up with something out of the ordinary has been great. I've actually got closer with my non member neighbors because of it as well as people that work for me.
I just can't say enough good about this whole challenge! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

WE CAN DO HARD THINGS .....with a little help from our friends!

  3. when my friend forwarded me this challenge idea, I thought, 'that is every blessed bad habit I have.' I was excited to work on several areas of improvement, not just eating. Kicking soda and sugar is hardest for me, but I can feel that my body likes me better because of it. Week one I had nasty headaches, but not anymore! Also, I haven't been able to wear my wedding ring the last couple of years. I just thought it was because I kept getting fatter. I think it may be all the soda though, because without that in my system, my ring fit! All that retention and sodium must be the culprit!
All that said, today ended up being my free day, because its one of those days. Love not feeling guilty about it though!

  4. one more thing: one of my best motivators? Random texts of encouragement/commiserating from my friend!

  5. I have enjoyed it, I am getting better, last week was a bad week, I know it was because I was a menstral mess those dang monthly friends aren't really friendly when trying to be good. It got the best of me. Anyways What I love now, is on my day off when I think I need a dr. pepper I take two sips of it and think what am I doing, this is way too sweet, now the smart thing to do is get rid of it, but I paid for it and don't want to waste the money so I keep on drinking it. Hey it's progress maybe in the next couple of weeks I won't even think of wanting one, that's what I'm aiming for. This challange has been great and is what I needed and I hope it happens again in the near future!

  6. That's funny Celeste! I have a fridge pop dispenser full of cokes!! I haven't been tempted to drink any ....YET! I haven't even taken a free day yet so my manager at work told me to give away my pop as an act of kindness!! lol I told her I can't do that ..... not just yet. Maybe one day before this is over but I just can't bring myself to part with them yet. WEIRD HUH? lol

  7. Its been great! I feel so much better! On my free day I ate pie, popcorn and pizza and was up ALL night with a stomach ach! NEVER AGAIN! So, even on my free day i am motivated to eat better so I feel better. The hard part is going to be when the really cold weather hits. I workout with the ladies in my neighborhood every morning and when we cant go outside anymore its going to be hard to find motivation to exercise. Love the challenge, the money isn't a bad motivator either :)

  8. I'm finding myself in a different mode every week. The first week is always the most energetic for me. The second is when I question if I want to keep going. (Thankfully, I made it through that one!) This week, I'm doing just fine, with an occasional craving. Today I was wishing big time that I could make brownies, but I told myself that if I really wanted some, I could write a letter first or use this as my free day. I realized I didn't want to have those brownies today after all. (Not that I don't want to write the letter, but even if I did, I didn't want to use that point that way).

I did this challenge because we're moving and I knew the pre-moving, moving, and post-moving stresses would be huge and I didn't want to lose sight of my eating and fitness goals. I started packing yesterday and it's wearing me out, but I'm continuing to get 10 point days. Yay for that!

  9. I agree with the above comments: there are days it's harder than others but for the most part, just realizing the good habits I'm making is keeping me motivated. Exercising has been really easy because I'm living with my in laws at the moment and they have an elliptical, but we're moving next week, so I'm a little worried about how easy (hard) it will be to work out with my 18 month old around and cooler weather on the way. I have loved all the reading I've been doing and actually writing in my journal more than 4 times a year! :) Also, today I used my free point for sugar because I REALLY needed some hot chocolate (my biggest weakness ever) and I ate some muddy buddies since I had the freedom and I just felt sick afterwards. Also (wow, this is long) I used to get SO hungry at about 10 at night, so I ate something, but now that I CAN'T, I have even forgotten to eat something right before 8 some days because my body has adjusted to not eating that late (which is GREAT because I usually ate crap that late at night). I keep wondering what I'm going to do at the end of the 8 weeks - how good will I stay?

  10. Going out of town makes things so much harder! I do find that when I am having a bad day that I wish I could just eat some chocolate. But overall I think it gets easier. I do worry about forgetful eating later on. Right now I think each time I eat something, "can I eat this". But I can see after a few more weeks forgetting to ask that and accidentally eating something I shouldn't. This has been fun to be challenged to make myself better.
